On the morning of June 24, the National Science and Technology Award Conference was held in Beijing. Prof. Bruno Briseghella, academic leader of the Jointless Bridge Team and President of the International Association of Jointless Bridges (IAJB), was honored with the 2023 China International Science and Technology Cooperation Award and received the award as a representative of the award.
Prof. Bruno Briseghella, as the President of the International Association of Jointless Bridges, is dedicated to the research on sustainability and innovative theories of bridge structures. Prof. Bruno Briseghella has developed a new technology of fully continuous jointless girder bridges, solved the problem of European and American jointless bridge technology not applicable in China, and realized the technical application of jointless bridges on long-span bridges. His research results have been applied to the world's longest jointless bridge, the jointless retrofit for over ten bridges of the entire 60km of Shaanxi-Gansu Highway G244 in Shaanxi, and the first jointless bridge of urban expressway in China-Shenzhen Maluanshan Bridge of Guangdong Province, as well as BeiLiuWu Bridge in Zhejiang Province, LiuErYing Bridge in Hebei Province, TangJiaPo Bridge in Ningxia Province and AnJi Bridge in Fujian Province, etc., which have enhanced the sustainability of local bridge projects.
Prof. Bruno Briseghella co-authored China's first monograph on Jointless bridges "Jointless Bridges" and the monograph "Sustainable Structural Engineering" edited by the International Association of Bridges and Structural Engineering (IABSE). He has published 127 papers in important international journals and 11 invention patents at home and abroad. He has presided over or participated in the international cooperation projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the European Union Research Program, the European Horizon 2020 and 2023, the National Science Foundation of the United Kingdom, and the National Research Program of Italy, etc. He has also participated in the compilation of nearly 20 English versions of Chinese specifications.
