From December 23 to 24, 2025, the Technical Experience Exchange Conference on Intelligent Construction of Asphalt Pavement and Seamless Bridge Construction for Zhenghe-Yangyuan to Yongding Expressway (Dehua Section) in Dehua, Quanzhou, concluded successfully. Co-hosted by the Fujian Highway & Transportation Society and the International Association for Seamless Bridges (IAJB), among other organizations, the conference attracted experts and representatives from the province's expressway construction sector. During the on-site observation session, the IAJB highlighted the innovative technology of reinforced earth integral bridges, which emerged as the highlight of the event.

The Dehua Section of the Zhenghe-Yongding Expressway is Fujian's first large-scale expressway project adopting the "municipal-county cooperative investment and co-construction" model. With a total length of 39.949 kilometers and a total investment of 6.743 billion yuan, the project has actively incorporated intelligent construction technologies—such as Beidou-based unmanned rolling construction (with an accuracy of 2 cm) and full-width paving technology—to enhance the Pavement Riding Quality Index (RQI). The application of reinforced earth integral bridges has provided a new approach for mountainous expressway construction. According to on-site briefings, this bridge type features a specialized design where flexible main abutments bear loads while rigid secondary abutments retain soil, making it adaptable to temperature deformation and soft soil foundation conditions. Monitoring data indicates that the completed bridge maintains stable structural stress, with concrete strain at the abutment top dominated by compression, demonstrating excellent overall performance.

The conference consisted of two core sessions: on-site observation and experience exchange. As one of the co-hosts, the IAJB arranged for participants to conduct on-site inspections on the morning of December 24 (following registration and reception on December 23) at the intelligent construction homogenization construction sites of the asphalt pavement and the seamless bridge demonstration projects along the Dehua Section. At the seamless bridge observation seminar, the IAJB systematically elaborated on the core technologies of reinforced earth composite abutment integral bridges. By eliminating expansion joints at abutments and integrating the superstructure with reinforced earth abutments, this technology effectively improves driving comfort and bridge durability. Moreover, reinforced earth integral bridges can reduce construction costs by approximately 20% and achieve "maintenance-free abutments", significantly lowering long-term maintenance expenses.

This exchange conference not only showcased innovations in homogenized construction—such as intelligent pavement rolling and full-width paving—but also, through the in-depth participation of the IAJB, introduced the international cutting-edge seamless bridge technology system to Fujian's expressway construction landscape. It has injected new impetus into promoting the quality upgrading of regional transportation infrastructure and advancing the green and sustainable development of the industry.
